The Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) is a government agency dedicated to strengthening the local economy by supporting, retaining, and expanding businesses, with a strong emphasis on small business growth and contracting opportunities. Its mission is to stimulate economic development, enhance the county’s industrial mix, and create value-added employment by providing a range of services, including business certifications such as Small Business Enterprise (SBE), County Business Enterprise (CBE), and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), which enable local businesses to compete for Broward County procurement contracts. OESBD also offers business resources and outreach through workshops, conferences, and technical assistance programs like BRAVO (Business Retention Assistance and Visitation Outreach), manages specialized initiatives such as the Broward County Brownfield Redevelopment Program and Foreign Trade Zones, and facilitates access to micro-grants and other funding opportunities to support small business success.
